Do You Think You’re ‘Smart Enough’?

So, what do you need to begin having the time of your life right now?
First, you must give yourself permission to arrive, so to speak. In your gut, you must realize that it doesn’t get any better than you, right now. Now, this doesn’t mean that you’re better than everybody else; it simply means you don’t have to be better than anyone else, and that no one else is better than you. Your entire focus should be on what you’re capable of becoming and achieving.
During my seminars and coaching sessions, I’ve had a lot of people give me some variation of this statement: “It’s too late in the game for me to change my thinking. I’m not smart enough to be prosperous now.” I’ve had people explain to me, in depth, that the poor grades they received in school were “proof” of how dumb they were. Grades aren’t a measure of intelligence; they only indicate how interested a person is in the subject. That’s all. Have you ever noticed how well you did at the things you were really interested in? Let me fill you in on a little secret:
You are already excellent. In fact, you’re already a GENIUS!
Have you ever told another person, “Oh, by the way, I’m a genius?” You should, because you’d be right.
Many years ago, neuroscientists believed that you and I had more than ten billion neurons in our brains. Each neuron is capable of processing millions of bits of information. When scientists and mathematicians tried to establish how many patterns were possible among the interactions of these various neurons, they found that it wasn’t finite. An infinite number of patterns were possible. That means what’s possible for us is limitless.
With the use of electron microscopes, neuroscientists found that they had been mistaken—humans didn’t have ten billion neurons after all. At a minimum, humans have a hundred billion neurons.
See why you’re a genius? The brain is an amazing thing. Many, including myself, consider it the last great frontier; we are finding out that the tiny space inside each of our heads may be as large as outer space in terms of what it contains. Our potential is not about what’s been, it’s all about what could be. Allow yourself to imagine the impossible and let your genius make it so.
